The Maids (1995-1996)

JEAN GENET

The housemaids sleepwalk, devote themselves to exquisite gesticulations, they deam of Madam's murder, dream of love, of the "Other Life"…

The screens are not there just for the housemaids to change clothes behind, but also for them to hide, to be able to make up the space, to overhear, to secretly whisper their "shames" to one another.

The three women give their place to men, not to disguise their sex, but in order for the actors to become narrators who will transfer the memory, the existence and the drama of these three persons, as eye-witnesses of a story that dad once shaken them. There, through this absence, every one of us is free to imagine them the way he wants to or even recognize them in him.
